  Citation × Citation Citation Abstract Copy Title: Coos Watershed Monitoring 2000 (OWEB #99-469) Abstract -- From 1994 - 1999, the Coos Watershed Association (CWA) has completed at least 310 in-stream structures (logs, boulder placements, and “pull trees”), created 4 off-channel ponds, replaced 16 culverts, removed 27 culverts, built 21 small jump pool weirs to facilitate fish passage, and planted and fenced at least 5 miles of lowland stream bank. To effectively monitor these sites, CWA developed and received OWEB approval of a comprehensive project monitoring strategy (see Attachment A), which ensures costeffective monitoring at a level of detail and frequency tailored to various project types. The basic function of tide gates creates a partial barrier to fish passage. Displaced fishers were employed by the Coos Watershed Association with funding from OWEB Grant 208-2098 during fall 2008 through fall 2009 to assist with implementation of the Life Cycle Monitoring project and related sampling efforts in the lowland coastal subbasins. This thesis explores the social and physical utility of low cost air monitoring (less than $200), and the design and implementation of a low cost sensor platform air monitoring system. Data is collected and analyzed from Ozone (O3), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and particulate matter (PM 2.5) sensors and compared with data from high accuracy instrumentation to assess the viability of using these low cost sensors for ambient air quality monitoring in research. The accuracy of these sensors varied greatly, but some sensors were accurate enough to gather quality lab data for a fraction of the cost of industry standard instruments.
