The historical-documentary method of research was used. Extensive use was made of interviews with those involved in the school's history. The chronology of history was divided into segments for greater clarity. It covers the period from 1868-1970. The study emphasizes the contribution made by members of the Business Education and Secretarial Science faculty in the development of Business Education. The role of Business Education and Secretarial Science and their philosophical aspects are discussed. Women in Transition: The Mexican Family, Migration, and the Mothers of Casa de los Angeles is broken into three parts: methodology, history of migration and gender roles, and in Mexico, the examination of interviews from mothers in San Miguel de Allende. Methodology explores the various ways historian collect oral histories. I focus my research on ten historians’ works that study the challenges with collecting oral history. The history of migration and gender roles is titled “Women in Transition: A Study of Migration History, Sending Communities, and Women’s Gender Roles in Mexico.” This studies a brief history of migration beginning with the Bracero Program of 1942. Following the history, I analyze women’s roles within sending communities. Sending communities are part of the transnational community, where the people in the communities either migrate or remain at home while family members leave to find work. The last part is titled “Women in Both Worlds.” This section concentrates on the women who migrate to the United States and their expected role as a woman in the household. The final section is titled “The Women of San Miguel de Allende.” The section spotlights the ten interviews from mothers at the non-profit organization, Casa de los Angeles. This section brings together the women’s stories of migration, family, and life at Casa de los Angeles. The research of genealogy and family history can represent a means of self-discovery, connection, and preservation of the past. The experience is individualistic, unique to the intricate intertwining of lives that helped create and influence who we are today. Through the analysis of historical biographies, family documents, and autobiographical vignettes, I explore the significance of general and personal family history portrayed in a narrative writing style. Studying texts that utilize styles and record analysis to tell untold stories of figures in history, including Michel-Rolph Trouillot’s Silencing the Past: Power and Production of History, Laurel Thatcher Ulrich’s A Midwife’s Tale, and Richard White’s Remembering Ahanagran, I am provided the tools necessary to tell my own silenced history. The following sections of the text will explore that history of each of my four major lineages, combining the tools learned from the researched texts with records compiled for genealogical purposes to construct a narrative for a living document. My own reflections and historical context are used to orient the narrative and give meaning to the chronological events of the past that aligned to tell my story. During his own time Krasheninnikov bridged the gap that existed in Russia between a distinctly European scientific practice and a tradition of Russian military expansion. He, like many of his contemporaries, was engaged in a process of accommodation between European scientific practices and Russian social and political traditions. This study attempts to address the general theme of the relation between science and culture through the life and work of Krasheninnikov. It argues that the adoption of scientific practices (in the guise of natural history) in eighteenth-century Russia was characterized not by a unidirectional importation of scientific practice nor by the westernization of the practitioners, but by a diffuse and sometimes idiosyncratic process of appropriation as Russian men of science sought to integrate European scientific practice into preexisting Russian historical, social, and political structures.
