Several factors that are likely to affect the District’s enrollment between 2000 and 2010 are considered and the geographical areas within the District (the cities of Eagle Point and Shady Cove, the unincorporated urban area of White City, and the rural unincorporated area) are examined. To account for different probabilities of demographic events, three scenarios of population, housing, and enrollment changes were developed. Forecasts are made for the total District, by grade level, for the years 2000, 2005, and 2010 using three assumptions: (a) the most likely enrollment growth assuming housing growth projected by local planners, (b) lower enrollment growth, assuming that housing and population grow at a slower pace and, and (c) high enrollment growth, assuming that housing and population growth increase at higher rates. The study includes analysis of population, housing and enrollment trends affecting the District in recent years, estimates of the impacts of housing development on TTSD enrollment, and forecasts of districtwide and individual school enrollments for the 2011-12 to 2020-21 school years. The Tigard-Tualatin School District (TTSD) enrolled 12,393 students in Fall 2010, a decrease of 74 students (0.6 percent) from Fall 2009. The loss occurred at both the elementary and middle school levels, with decreases of 41 students (0.7 percent) in grades K-5 and 123 students (4.2 percent) in grades 6-8. Conversely, district-wide enrollment in high school grades 9-12 increased by 90 students (2.3 percent). The city more than doubled its area with its 1998 annexations. Many public and private projects were built during the past decade, and many are in planning stages or under construction at this time. Given this history, it is prudent for city government to determine how well Bend’s citizens feel public services are performing, how they feel about communication with their government, and what their concerns are about Bend’s future course. This document reports a community survey commissioned to the Center for Urban Studies in fall of 1999. It includes demographic profiles and analysis of public assessment of municipal services (including some Parks Bureau services), communication between the government and citizens, and concerns about the future. It compares citizen reactions on these issues according to demographic groupings, particularly older and newly annexed areas of the city. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether demographic, behavioral, and biological differences occur between those with IAD and valid accelerometry data (VAD) among adults using a representative sample of the civilian noninstitutionalized U.S. population. Methods: Ambulatory participants from NHANES (2003-2004) who were 20-85 years of age were included in the current study and wore an ActiGraph 7164 accelerometer for 7 days. A "valid person" was defined as those with 4 or more days of at least 10+ hrs of monitoring per day. Among adults (20-85 yrs), 3088 participants provided VAD and 987 provided IAD. Demographic, behavioral, and biological information were obtained from the household interview or from data obtained in a mobile examination center. Results: Differences were observed in age, BMI, ethnicity, education, smoking status, marital status, use of street drugs, current health status, HDL-cholesterol, C-reactive protein, self-reported vigorous physical activity, and plasma glucose levels between those with VAD and IAD. Conclusions: Investigators should take into consideration the potential cut-off bias in interpreting results based on data that excludes IAD participants.
