In 1986, the Kerivans converted a 75-acre field to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Gris grapes. They planted dense rows of vines only six feet apart, instead of the usual 12 that prevailed in the U.S. They pruned each vine to allow just 20 buds, instead of the usual 60 to 80. They were acting on carefully researched plans that were deeply rooted in European tradition, where dense planting of vineyards is a centuries-old practice. Today, the winery has a storage capacity of more than 300,000 gallons and a production capacity of 100,000 cases, which makes Bridgeview one of the largest wineries in Oregon. Bridgeview produces wines in the varietals of Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and Riesling. Bridgeview Vineyards was one of the first of Southern Oregon's wineries to sell their wine outside the state of Oregon. Bob Kerivan credits the now-famous Blue Moon label and their Chardonnay's characteristic blue glass bottle as contributing to the early recognition of Bridgeview's wines.
