Kindle is a smart portable electronic book device that includes free wireless feature from Sprint for connecting to the Internet and downloading contents. This content-delivery service is called “Whispernet”. Furthermore, An electronic paper of Kindle not only consumes less energy but also allows readers to feel as if they were reading off physical paper. Kindle 2 has been launched since early of 2009, this version is a solution of the drawbacks such as low resolution, no backlight, thickness and incompatible with PDF files found in the previous version. Even though Amazon has solved all the disadvantages of the first version, some customers still have questions about Kindle’s ability compared to other e-readers; and some of them doubt about the current trends, future direction and the possibility to penetrate and substitute the print books market. They would like to make the decision after perceiving the situation and comparing with others devices such as Nook from B&N and Sony Reader. Therefore, I would like to analyze what strategies that Amazon uses to encourage its customers to trust in the capability of Kindle, and also to beat other competitors such as B&N and Sony Corp in order to remain the top player of the eBook device market. Technology creates continuous change and opportunity, but also presents challenges and threats in many aspects of daily life. Because of the need to mitigate risks while optimizing opportunities, managing engineering and technology has become a priority for companies, organizations, governments and individuals. The Internet of Things (IoT) is one result of this constant evolution of technology. It describes a system where items in the physical world, and sensors within or attached to these items, are connected to a global network of items via the Internet. Progressive cities that have embraced technology in their development have also helped develop the concept of a Smart City, an integrated urban system based on smarter infrastructure driven by technology. Our aim in the team project is to analyze, using a technology management approach, different ways that IoT will help improve urban transportation efficiency in smart cities, traffic management and parking. We conduct a literature review and a multi-criteria analysis based on the STEEP perspectives. Additionally, we will provide suggestions on promising practices to help cities improve transportation efficiency. Through our research and analysis of literature, we conclude that effectively leveraging the promise of IoT in smart cities, with respect to traffic management and parking, urban planners and policy makers must include the following activities: identify current technology and trends in parking and traffic management; identify problems or challenges that need to be solved through the integration of IoT and urban mobility planning; identify primary considerations from each of the STEEP perspectives; and communicate how effective management, (of the STEEP perspectives), plays a crucial role in successful implementation of smart city growth. This paper is based on a case study of what are the tools or methodologies are available for the different stages in the project life cycle, what are the different project management methodologies and tools employed in the different stages of the project life-cycle. These tools are considered to be very useful in guiding the whole organization into the same direction. Despite the acknowledged fact that projects in any organization should support the overall strategy of the organization, it was noticed that the usage of the tools in the project life cycle was rare projects rarely use these tools. The paper also seeks to see if the size of the organization was representative of the level of project management maturity in the use of processes and tools during the project life cycle. The paper also looks at the nature of the industry to see if that has a bearing on the processes or tools in use in the organizations that fall under each industrial category analyzed. The paper also tries to compare project management processes in those projects that are mainline to the business and those that are ancillary to the business. Our research consisted of gathering industry standard measures of R&D from 1996 through 2009. These measures are as follows: R&D spending as a percentage of GDP (total government, industry and universities), researchers per million inhabitants, number of patents granted each year, number publications each year and total number of graduates in all programs in thousands. We gathered and logged the metrics for each year from 1996 through 2009 and used the historical data to forecast future positioning of R&D in these countries. However, industries and approaches to strategy have evolved significantly over the last 30 years. The uniqueness of this tool enables firms to identify, and develop technology alternatives that are required to meet a set of product or service needs. In this framework we utilized this powerful tool to measure the pace of the next hybrid PC generations. The main catalyst behind this study is attempting to answer the question of why PC sales have shrunk recently. We started conducting our research by applying the macroeconomics forces at the macro scale to have a clear vision of the exerted forces on PC industry—namely the impact of tablets, Ultrabook, laptops, and smartphones on PCs. Accordingly, we conducted an intensive literature review followed by a survey to understand the trends of PC industry as well as the end users’ needs. Based on the knowledge extracted from the literature and the survey, we constructed the Technology Roadmap of the next hybrid PC generations. The developed roadmap— consisted of drivers, products, technology, and resources—empowered us to evaluate the current state of PC industry and revealed technological gaps implicitly. We believe the technological gaps discovered by this framework, will help any hypothetical manufacturer pioneer in the PC industry to cope up with the dynamic of PC market for the next five years. Companies design and manage their products in this market by using different strategies. This paper explores the wearable activity tracker market by analyzing existing leading companies and exploring potential emerging ones in the future. The analysis is covered through a multi perspective view of the fitness market, such as a qualitative analysis: SWOT, quantitative analysis: financial data of the market and deriving a business model: McKinsey 7-S Model. This model has been chosen for this purpose because it allows us to easily visualize how the leading companies sustain their competitive advantage and expand to new markets. The above analysis were applied to the top three best-selling trackers of 2013 and Nike+ FuelBand, Fitbit Flex, and Jawbone UP were selected to determine the optimum strategies of the leading companies to serve the existing and new markets. In the last few years the proportion of electricity generated by non hydropower based renewable sources has remained constant while generation from fossil fuels has increased. In this project, the team provides a background of the sources of renewable electricity in the United States. We discuss thin film solar photovoltaics in detail with analyses of the strengths and weakness of this material. Collected data regarding historical manufacturing costs and current prices of electricity are used to put together a scenario analyses which could predict the viability of thin film solar panels. These factors include: Human/Government factors Manufacturing trends Consideration of cost of ownership Conversion factors to compare solar power to standard electrical power. Environmental impact factors In researching this topic, the team was unable to find an adequate forecasting model. The team adds to the existing body of knowledge by providing a couple of scenario analyses which can be used to predict the adoption of thin film solar panels.
