As there are numerous projects these projects are not only dilemma for employee but also an intimidation for company’s budget and they are also affecting major projects. It is believed that with the use of Portfolio Management System this issue could be solved. There are a few key factors as they are the cause of success, Good financial support is the basic need for getting good position, and the development of skills via training so then they can take advantage of technology. The subject which should be resolute is, the go/kill process as it is accountable for a lot of projects in the pipeline and can demolish company. On the other hand, the company should responsive of quality and price of product as these are the two main factors in the industry. By the comparison of company and industry key success factors it can be said that the company has to perk up quality of its work in order to reside competitive and should follow strategies for its success, facts like implementation of development programs, the choice of project should be made on the basis of availability of man power. After the implementation of these factors it is clearly observed that quality has been improved and burden has been reduced. Finally the local companies get chance to grow by the improved in local economy. The population of our world and the rate of consumption of resources increase each year. The future has us looking at alternative energy sources that will drive the need for better methods of extraction of natural energy’s like wind, water, solar, geothermal heat, and other various types of natural resources. There is a need to focus on developing more energy efficiency of current products to lessen the demand on current energy sources. Primarily powered by electricity, one of the areas to focus on energy efficiency is the heat pump water heater (HPWH). In the Northwest states (Washington, Montana, Oregon, Idaho) about sixty to sixty five percent of households use electricity as the primary source of power. Heating water can consume anywhere from fifteen to twenty five percent of the home total energy consumption. The engineering behind the HPWH doesn’t generate its own heat while running. Rather the HPWH uses the ambient air surrounding the water heater and functions in revers of a refrigeration or air conditioning system. According to Energy star: “HPWH takes the heat from surrounding air and transfers it to water in an enclosed tank. A low-pressure liquid refrigerant is vaporized in the heat pump's evaporator and passed into the compressor. As the pressure of the refrigerant increases, so does its temperature. The heated refrigerant runs through a condenser coil within the storage tank, transferring heat to the water stored there. As the refrigerant delivers its heat to the water, it cools and condenses, and then passes through an expansion valve where the pressure is reduced and the cycle starts over.” Research Question: Why has the HPWH had such a slow or low adoption rate in society? Research Objective: There are factors and sub factors that are affecting the adoption of the Heat Pump Water Heater. The factors we have identified are economic, politic, social, technical and environmental. Over time, great investment has been made in the research and implementation of what can be termed as “renewable” sources of energy including solar, hydro, geothermal, and wind energy. This project, “Wind Energy: How Much US Electricity will be Supplied by Wind?” seeks to determine what the future of wind energy production will look like in the US. The US Department of Energy released a report in 2008 titled, “20% Wind Energy by 2030” in which it concludes that it is possible for wind energy to account for 20% of the US electricity supply by the year 2030. Acknowledging the real possibility of this scenario, the research and analysis of “Wind Energy: How Much US Electricity will be Supplied by Wind?” seeks to determine the likelihood of this scenario. However, given the super-hypothetical nature of the DOE report and the inherent uncertainty of a 20 year forecast, this project also seeks to determine the likelihood of wind energy accounting for 5% of US electricity needs by the year 2020. Given wind energy’s 2009 contribution of 1.8% to US electricity needs, the 5% contribution by 2020 was determined as a necessary benchmark to further extrapolate the likelihood of reaching the 20% goal by 2030. The research methodology for this project implemented the STEEP framework in which the Social, Technical, Environmental, Economic, and Political components of wind energy production are each independently studied. The research relied heavily on publications from the US Department of Energy and the US Energy Information Administration as well as several other government agencies and research establishments. Current trends coupled with anticipated advancements were used to determine of wind energy would likely reach either the 2020/5% or 2030/20% goals. Although each component of the STEEP framework was studied independently, it was determined that each of the components is substantially interdependent on one another. Therefore, the future of the US wind energy industry is highly dependent on the continuing progress in each of the fields of study. Although each of the components presents a degree of uncertainty in extrapolating future prospects, it was determined that current trends present only modest and incremental advancements favorable to wind energy in the US. In conclusion, it was determined that wind energy is likely to contribute at least 5% of US electricity supply by the year 2020; however, it is unlikely that wind energy will expand substantially enough over the next two decades to be responsible for 20% of US electricity by the year 2030 as stated by the US Department of Energy. It's very common for some project tasks (Activities) to be complex than anticipated or to have turnover on the project that requires to bring new resources up to speed. Sometimes, many project activities are simply underestimated and they end up taking more time than predicted. Regardless of how it happens, most of the times managers discover that projects are trending beyond committed deadlines. If it’s still the beginning of the project, some corrective actions could be taken to bring project back on track. But, closer to project deadline, choices dwindle. In spite of such situations, project deadlines can’t be easily delayed or postponed as most of the projects in a company are interdependent in nature while sharing resources to maintain economies of scale. Changing customer demands or pressure of stiff competition in the market also force managers to get the project done before deadline.In such cases, companies prefer the option of ‘Project Crashing’ which simply means applying additional resources to the critical path or the sequence of activities that must be completed in required schedule. It's always possible to just throw more resources on the critical path, but crashing also means to get the biggest schedule gain for the least amount of incremental costs. To study the issue of Project Crashing and high crashing cost related to it, we examine the case of Siemens Energy Inc. Siemens Energy Inc. is a division of a large European company Siemens AG which has operations in manufacturing and electronics worldwide. Similar to all companies, Siemens Inc. also deals with the issue of managing multiple projects in a given period of time. Management at Siemens Inc. would like to prefer developing a standardized method or model that can help managers to make informed and rational decision which can help them to accomplish all the project activities in time with the least extra cost incurred. To begin with, we reviewed past literature available on Project Management. Most of them mainly focus on approaches used for schedule compression. In addition, we also reviewed past literature on optimization methods used for project crashing. Understading the past researches and the need of a robust and widely applicable optimization model for this classic but important problem, an attempt was made to address this Project Management. Hence, a model was developed using Linear Programming and Excel Solver which aims at meeting the project deadline with minimum cost. The research makes a decision model for the selection of energy resources for China in the future by the method of Hierarchical Decision Modeling (HDM) by Dundar F. Kocaoglu. The result of the research indicates that rankings o f energy resources are that renewable energy ranks the 1st, coal ranks the 2nd, nuclear energy ranks the 3rd, natural gas ranks the 4th and petroleum ranks the last.The sensitivit y analysis reflects that the most criti cal criterion in the energy selection is current energy infrastructure. Not only were people who lived nearby the Canyon faced with impacts from air pollution, but there were also economic losses. The amount of leaked methane was equal to over one billion gallons of gasoline, or over 21 million U.S dollars [2]. These economic resources were wasted within just a few months. In addition, due to the leak, there was the longer-term concern of not having enough fuel supply for natural gas-fired electric generation in Southern California until Summer 2017 since most of natural gas used in the region relied on Aliso Canyon storage. The breakthroughs and manufacturing cost reductions made in sensors and MicroElectro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), as well as the advancements in integrated hardware and software systems technologies have given rise to the area of mobile health (mHealth) monitoring. mHealth monitoring systems give more control into the hands of the person to be in charge of their own health and maintain their sense of independence, especially as the population ages. The technology can also enable researchers to study pertinent diseases using continuous kinematic data. Fitbit is a respected firm that has been bringing innovative health and fitness tracking systems to the market since 2007. Their focus has been primarily on fitness bands until 2014 when they are introduced the smart fitness watch, Fitbit Surge. In this paper, we have studied the competitive landscape for the smartwatch which is the next logical extension that Fitbit is trying to establish in terms of product offerings. Given the complex nature of this market, both product-based and resource-based views are applied in order to develop the recommended competitive strategies for Fitbit. The breakthroughs and manufacturing cost reductions made in sensors and MicroElectro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), as well as the advancements in integrated hardware and software systems technologies have given rise to the area of mobile health (mHealth) monitoring. mHealth monitoring systems give more control into the hands of the person to be in charge of their own health and maintain their sense of independence, especially as the population ages. The technology can also enable researchers to study pertinent diseases using continuous kinematic data. Fitbit is a respected firm that has been bringing innovative health and fitness tracking systems to the market since 2007. Their focus has been primarily on fitness bands until 2014 when they are introduced the smart fitness watch, Fitbit Surge. In this paper, we have studied the competitive landscape for the smartwatch which is the next logical extension that Fitbit is trying to establish in terms of product offerings. Given the complex nature of this market, both product-based and resource-based views are applied in order to develop the recommended competitive strategies for Fitbit. Close

This research considers how to best address the social problem that the pervasiveness of data collection, analysis, and storage creates with regard to individuals’ ability to control their own data. Using Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and Technology Roadmapping analysis methods, we assess the social problems, technologies, resources, and industries that are most relevant to addressing data privacy. We find that the medical industry is the most important industry to consider because of the nature of the data generated through medical processes and technologies, and that enforcement mechanisms, specifically in the form of federal enforcement agencies, are the most effective way to ensure compliance by actors. However, there are extenuating political circumstances and increased costs that make the implementation of policies difficult in the United States that also need to be considered. Future research should further address some of these elements as big data technologies continue to be adopted across corporations and organizations.
