The elevation of the gate sill is about 0.3 feet lower than the crest of the concrete weir which serves as Wild Horse Diversion Dam. Rocks, limbs, etc., have been piled on top of dam to impede the flow of water over the structure. Water was observed running under the dam through a washed-out cavity. A level shot showed that the crest of the dam was 0.3 higher than the sill of the headgate to the Wildhorse Diversion Channel. The dam, as shown, is a concrete weir. It is in extremely poor condition. Metal shields support the vertical walls of the open trench between the trencher and the hopper. The guide on the bottom of the hopper positions the drainage tubing as it is pulled into the trench.
