The focus of the Plan is land use and physical development. The Plan is based on the soil capabilities and land ownership pattern, and the timberland and wildlife resources. It represents a statement which puts forth major ideas concerning the desirable future development of Skamania County. The pace of development has in recent years increased in Skamania County. Residential subdivisions, Mobile Home Parks, public parks and other public facilities have been planned and constructed. A major federal project, the new Bonneville Power House, is now under construction. The adjacent town of North Bonneville will be relocated as part of this project. Year: 2002 Several geothermal occurrences in the state of Idaho were examined for their potential for electrical generation and direct use. Five sites were studied in detail with respect to their current conditions and developments, and the potential for future power generation projects: Crane Creek Hot Springs, Raft River, Big Creek Hot Springs, Vulcan Hot Springs KGRA, and the Magic Reservoir Hot Spring area. From this evaluation, Crane Creek Hot Springs was determined to be the best prospect for future development, in light of the current state of private-sector development at the Raft River site. The Vulcan KGRA and Big Creek Hot Springs are considered to be low priority candidates for electrical generation because of their remote locations and other conditions. The gravity data are presented as a terrain-corrected Bouguer gravity anomaly map with a contour interval of 1 mgal and as an isometric three-dimensional gravity anomaly surface. This study includes geologic mapping at a scale of 1:24,000 and lithologic logs of deep Chevron wells. Two major normal fault systems control the configuration of the Beowawe geothermal system. Active hot springs and sinter deposits lie along the Malpais Fault zone at the base of the Malpais Rim. The Malpais Rim is one of several east-northeast-striking, fault-bounded cuestas in north central Nevada. A steeply inclined scarp slope faces northwest towards Whirlwind Valley. Year: 1980 An electrical resistivity survey in the Colado geothermal area, Pershing County, Nevada has defined areas of low resistivity on each of five lines surveyed. Some of these areas appear to be fault controlled. Thermal fluids encountered in several drill holes support the assumption that the hot fluids may be associated with areas of low resistivity. The evidence of faulting as interpreted from modeling of the observed resistivity data is therefore particularly significant since these structures may be the conduits for the thermal fluids. Sub-allurial fault zones are interpreted to occur between stations 0 to 5 NW on Line D and on Line A between stations 4 NW and 4 SE. Fault zones are also interpreted on Line C near stations 1 NW, 1 SE, and 3 SE, and on Line E between stations 2 to 4 NW and near 1 SE. No faulting is evident under the alluvial cover on the southwest end of Line B. A deep conductive zone is noted within the mountain range on two resistivity lines.
