From his first plantings in 1972 to the start of the winery in 1993, Dick was committed to natural farming and winemaking. He chose the Kubli Bench in the Applegate Valley where the warm days and cool nights, along with superior soil conditions, would yield exceptional wines. Troon settled on a 32 acre plot of land located at the perfect elevation for his favorite varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel. The Martin family was chosen by Dick Troon in 2003 to "take it to the next level." New vineyards planted between 2004 and 2011 bring the vineyard planting close to 40 acres with over 20 different varietals.
