The study includes analysis of population, housing and enrollment trends affecting the Sherwood School District (SSD) in recent years and forecasts of district-wide and individual school enrollments for the 2010-11 to 2014-15 school years. Total K-12 enrollment in the District increased by 215 students (4.7 percent) between Fall 2008 and Fall 2009, reaching 4,748 students. For the fourth consecutive year, percentage gains were greater at both of the secondary levels than at the elementary level, as the students who contributed to rapid elementary growth in the late 1990s and early 2000s made their way into middle and high school grades. The study includes analysis of population, housing and enrollment trends affecting the District in recent years and forecasts of district-wide and individual school enrollments for the 2009-10 to 2013-14 school years. The current forecasts included in this study indicate that the District will continue to lose enrollment over the next five years, but at a slower rate than in the past. Total K-12 enrollment is forecast to decline next year by 24 students (1.1 percent). Small declines ranging from 11 to 37 students are also forecasted for each of the following four years. Overall, for the five year forecast period, K-12 enrollment is 117 students (5.5 percent) lower in 2013-14 than in 2008-09.
