He gives a detailed description of his family genealogy, including the migration through Montana of his father and mother. The bulk of the interview highlights the struggle of Black students while he attended college. El judeoespañol y su diacronismo) Author: Núñez-Méndez, Eva Year: 2015 Judeo-Spanish is analyzed here from a diachronic perspective, representing a figurative return to the linguistic and sociopolitical past of a community known for its numerous cross-cultural attributions and discursive memories. For centuries, this unique ethnic group has preserved its history, one that has been characterized by constant migration due to expulsion and diaspora, and resulted in frequent cultural and linguistic contact within the Mediterranean area. This legacy has left its mark on a language that is simultaneously archaic yet innovative and reflects the many paths of Sephardic idiosyncrasy and assimilation. It is the objective of this paper to raise awareness among general readers of the significance of Judeo-Spanish as an iconic source of ethnic identity and as a living witness of the past and linguistic change. The proportion of Oregon residents age 25 and older with at least a bachelor’s degree grew from 20.6 percent in 1990 to 25.1 percent in 2000. The figure climbed to 28.3 percent during the 2005-2009 period, according to newly released American Community Survey (ACS) estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau. The margin of error for the five-year period was plus or minus 0.3 percent. Average educational attainment in the Portland metropolitan area, which includes Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington counties, was consistently higher than the state average during the past two decades. What’s more, the proportion of college-educated people in the three counties increased more precipitously than any other part of Oregon.
