Conversion of biomass to valuable fuel products such as bio-oil (also known as pyrolysis oil) and bio-char via fast pyrolysis is a promising means for producing renewable energy fuels. The process assessed in this study involves using advanced and reliable technology to thermally degrade biomass in the absence of oxygen to produce bio-oil, bio-char and syngas. The syngas produced can be used entirely to provide thermal process energy for the pyrolysis system [3]. Project management in a distributed environment has complex challenges and issues that must be dealt with in addition to the “regular” project management challenges. In order to deliver successful project in such an environment the entire team must understand the challenges that are related to the distributed nature of the team (For example: the project manager might be located in a different geography then the development team etc…) and embrace the needed behavior that is required to deliver successful projects. In this project I will present few of the main challenges and few solutions, I will also incorporate some of my experience as a senior project management for the past 15 years. As part of this project I have read multiple articles and publications and also used my own experience. Further, we have identified the key factors to incorporate into this model and obtained weights from a survey sent it to IP professionals. The model was tested through the utilization of three case studies. The results of this evaluation demonstrate that our weighted scoring model can be used as a tool to assist with patent decisions in the Fuzzy Front End.
