Though 3D technology has been around for many years in very concrete niches such as specialized movie theaters the advent of more realistic 3D techniques and the push from media creators to have more available content is going to create a new market opportunities in home TV sales and many vendors are putting their best effort to offer such products. Initial industry estimates are showing a significant adoption of 3D technology across TV sets, computer equipment, content broadcast and specialized home entertainment so the interest of major entertainment providers is clearly justified. This new end market currently appeals to early adopters who are willing to pay the premium for the latest technologies and expect a full available ecosystem of content/equipment to improve their experience. An accurate study of market segments and a correct introduction of these new products will have a significant impact to set standards and future steps on 3D technology as new updates on the technology, interaction to other home entertainment equipment such as home theaters and larger segment shares on a growing market. All NRTLs conduct testing and certification are based on safety standards developed by organizations, such as Underwriters Laboratories (UL). In order to remain competitive in their respective markets, NRTLs must continually find new business lines to provide services to and maintain. NRTLs accomplish this goal by seeking out companies to which they can provide their certification services at a profit. One of the biggest challenges NRTLs face in their annual operations, is finding a process with which to select companies to provide their services to. Due to the constraints, different monetary and time investments involved in pursuing new business streams, it is a substantial added value to have model with which to factor in all constraints while simultaneously maximizing the profit of services provided. In this paper, Linear Programming Optimization is utilized to build a model which can be used to take in sets of data of the certification standards in the desired local market, along with all relative constraints so as to yield a set of standards which maximize profit. A case study of a mock NRTL company located in Oregon is applied to test this model. Because the capital and installation costs for enabling smart transmission lines and distribution substations are high, utilities and their regulating organizations are reluctant to invest the resources and pass the resulting costs on to the ratepayers. On the demand side it is more likely that businesses will be able to demonstrate that the costs for upgrading to Smart Grid capable demand response devices, such as Smart Meters and centralized automated control systems, can be recovered and will become bottom line benefits as electric rates increase and demand response and time of use pricing become available. Residential energy use is still a large component of delivered electric power. The residential customer base is large and the ability to drive consumer electric usage behavior to models which will be more efficient and conservative is not well known. This research focuses on residential demand side behaviors and will investigate the market potential for a smart appliance adapter plug, which would help the consumer learn and practice automatic and programmed electric use through a centralized home automation and control console. This smart adapter plug and control console technology will be developed and shown to be capable of enabling consumer behavioral changes which can contribute to a reduced energy use and lowered utility costs. A survey is conducted which will evaluate typical consumer attitudes about conservation, energy efficiency and willingness to use this new capability to actively control the total residential energy use. There are numerous reasons for this, including the environment, timing, and budget. When Nicolas Hayek founded SWATCH, he aimed to form a business had its own style, own way of business, and which was going to be the leader of all innovations in the watch industry. This motivation led to the development of this famous SWATCH Company. Today, SWATCH is known by consumers for its chic and stylish watches. On the other hand, competitors know it as a company which is creating continuous innovations in the watch industry, and a company that is changing the way business is done. However, being successful in one sector and having the capability to create ideas does not mean a company is going to create innovations in another industry. An example of this is seen in Hayek’s second big idea-smart. smart smart aimed to be an innovative car that would change the nature of the automotive business. It was a product of joint venture formed between SWATCH and famous Mercedes-Benz Car Company. However, there have been many changes in this project since its conception. SWATCH left the joint venture; Daimler-Benz, which was the parent company of Mercedes merged with another famous car company CHRYSLER; and SWATCH experienced big losses since it has been launched. All these aspects make this case a very important one which is worth to be examined from technology management perspective. Every idea, every groundbreaking leap that changes our world starts with a decision, and making the right decision is the foundation to success and happiness in life. This study aims to assess different follow-me drones manufacturers using a decision-making process of buying an autonomous “Follow-Me” drone systems by utilizing a hierarchical decision model (HDM). Focusing on the active sports enthusiast customer this model will evaluate which of the six autonomous drone systems the customer should purchase based on a set of evaluation criteria. The criteria contained in the model were based on interviews with subject matter experts in both photography and remote sensing as well as consumer reports and literature review. Two panels were used for this model, panel two was the subject matter experts on just the products and they scored the products against each other in each of the criteria. Once that was finished the model was developed so the consumer only had to fill out level two and level three to find out what drone is best for them based on their priority of the evaluation criteria. After the application of the model, analysis is made concerning the main results and also concerning the importance of each objective and criteria. As the number of online shoppers grows, so does the number of purchases they make online. As the amount of money spent and the amount of personal data given online also increases, so does the opportunities for cyber criminals and intruders to steal them. While the internet market place offers convenience and lower prices, it also poses risks that need to be mitigated to make E-Commerce as safe as possible. The challenges that are facing E-Commerce were studied in this project from three different perspectives – Technology, Organizational and Personnel. The business model and the various transaction models of E-Commerce were studied. The sources of the problem and the most recent challenges were researched. The recommendations were provided based on the T-O-P analysis. Overall, the project found that E-Commerce risks are very real, and consumers need to learn better computer hygiene to stay safe online and the developers need to focus more on security of internet applications along with business functionalities. The project methodology comprises use of both primary and secondary sources for research. The paper begins by identifying the importance of cost management in project management. Cost management is the process which allows companies to control and plan the costs involved in doing a business. It allows a business to predict future expenditures to help reduce the chance of going over budget. Starting a project with cost management helps avoid certain pitfalls that may be present otherwise. The purpose of cost management is to ensure sufficient supply of funds in a timely manner to the firm to meet its funding needs. It therefore becomes imperative to perform a cost benefit analysis of various alternatives before acquiring funds from any particular source. Cost Management is a key contributing factor of business success and provides a metric for measurement of performance. The study then identifies four commonly used steps for cost management - Resource Planning, Cost Estimating, Cost Budgeting and Cost Control. Resource Planning is the process of determining the actual requirements of people, equipment and materials in order to perform project activities. Cost Estimating is the process of developing an approximate estimation of the cost needed to complete the project activities. Cost Budgeting is the process of aggregating the estimated costs of individual activities or work packages establish a total cost baseline for measuring project performance. Cost Control is the process of monitoring the status of the project to update the project budget and managing changes to the cost baseline.
