The changing trends in the appeal factor as well as wide variety of growing application of microprocessors in different industries can have a defining impact in the advancement of the technological features in future. This study is built on previous investigations in forecasting microprocessors’ technology and uses Technology Forecasting using Data Envelopment Analysis (TFDEA) methodology. It incorporates multiple variables that are affecting microprocessors’ future industry based on market priorities and customer’s specification preferences and aims at forecasting future microprocessor technology trends. The research uses the dataset collected by Stanford University, which holds a rich collection of microprocessor specifications from 17 factories for the past four decades, and is more recent compared to the dataset used in the former research. The result is a rate of change (RoC) that is based on much more recent dataset including the new generation of microprocessors (i.e. multi cores) and can be used to forecast the future microprocessor technology trends. Therefore, as a disruptive technology, the developments in DSLR technologies are worthy of notice. This paper utilizes technology forecast using data envelopment analysis (TFDEA), which is a quantitative forecasting method. In the study, we use input and output data collected from about a hundred DSLRs of the top five currently dominant brands such as Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax and Olympus. The anticipation is that we observe changes in DSLR technologies. Final results show future DSLRs’ capabilities and provide insight that TFDEA, as a forecasting method, can be applicable to determine market trends of consumer electronics as well as technologies. Project management is the art or the discipline to ensure that the project can be successful, through a seamless performance of orderly arranged activities and phases resulting in project deliverables [1]. This paper is based on a case study of what are the tools or methodologies are available for the different stages in the project life cycle, what are the different project management methodologies and tools employed in the different stages of the project life-cycle. These tools are considered to be very useful in guiding the whole organization into the same direction. Despite the acknowledged fact that projects in any organization should support the overall strategy of the organization, it was noticed that the usage of the tools in the project life cycle was rare projects rarely use these tools. The paper also seeks to see if the size of the organization was representative of the level of project management maturity in the use of processes and tools during the project life cycle. The paper also looks at the nature of the industry to see if that has a bearing on the processes or tools in use in the organizations that fall under each industrial category analyzed. The paper also tries to compare project management processes in those projects that are mainline to the business and those that are ancillary to the business. Lastly, the paper also touches upon what are the trends in methodologies that project managers have to be aware of when embarking on the utilization of processes or tools for a project. In fact, two of his models, the Five Forces model (Porter, 2008), and the Three Generic Strategies model (Porter, 2000, 2005), are widely referenced and serve as bedrock for discussions of strategy and policy in many college textbooks today. However, industries and approaches to strategy have evolved significantly over the last 30 years. Key factors driving this change include: globalization of markets (products, resources, and labor), rapid and wide‐spread access to information, faster product cycles, increasing research and development costs, and more informed buyers. Based on these changes, and current trends “in industry” to be more “market” or “marketing” oriented, we will explore whether Porter’s Three Generic Strategies model can still be an effective tool for strategic planning or whether there is a more effective alternatives. In particular, the Strategic Marketing Model, developed by Cendix, has been used successfully to develop strategy for operating companies in dynamic operating environments. This paper will address the strengths and weaknesses of both models and judge the effectiveness for each as a problem solving tool.
