Ira pitched from1961-63, and was an All-American the latter twoyears. He signed with the Chicago Whitesox and played minor league baseball. Ira was elected to the Oregon State Athletic Hall of Famein 1991. Ira's coach at Portland's Franklin high school was Gene Tanselli, who played baseball for OSU from 1949-1951.
