Within the realm of academia, particularly within engineering disciplines, the objectives and interactions of students remains narrow and targeted to the discipline of study. In this paper we look at the potential of enhanced learning outcomes driven by working in a cross-­‐functional or multidisciplinary teams with an appropriate project being available. We examine the role an organically-­‐formed student club played in providing just such a multidisciplinary, business-­‐like project environment in which the participants were challenged to work together and ultimately succeeded in building a real-­‐world product that would not have been possible for any one of the disciplines offered within this technical school.
